DAY 2 LJUBLIANA IN THE SUN

What a different city when it's not raining! The cobblestone streets were well trodden today by more people than us. Our day started with a lovely (and free) breakfast at our hotel.
Then off we went to find a great deal in a car rental--now we're set to drive off tomorrow to our next adventure (no spoilers here, you'll have to stay tuned).

Ljubliana, now sunny and warm, was our oyster and we revisited saw the sights we had just yesterday seen soggy.

We did plan to take the Funicular up to the castle but were enticed along a back road which ultimately led up a steep incline through narrow streets to the castle. Surrounded by the sights and smells of long awaited greenery and the lively sound of birdsong was truly a delight.

After climbing to the top of the tower, we were rewarded with a 360 degree view of the city.

Engorged on Slovenian history and artifacts, declaring ourselves kings of the castle and the rest dirty rascals, we boarded the Funicular and headed down the hill.

Came upon the market square, luncheoned along the riverbank and then took a guided riverboat cruise.

(My first glass of Slovenian wine)

(Look closely--there's a chandelier hanging up)

'Twas a day of walking and revelling in the beautiful weather. We happened upon a fantastic restaurant called Julija where we not only dined but dealt as well. I was borrowing Mikes portable charger. Our waiter, George, ended up buying the charger off Mike for his daughter's birthday for some $ and a bottle of pumpkin seed oil. He brought us a wee glass each of Slovenian blueberry liqueur--Borovincek--then I felt compelled to see if the chandelier was lit up.

                       IT WAS!!!
As were many areas on our walk to the hotel.
